All of my Top Five's are products of groups or collaborations. All but one are from groups who have put out some of my favorite albums in the past. These groups are consistent yet fresh sounding, you know I love great combos, especially the pretzel and cheese variety.
Number 5: Spoon, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
More people need to listen to Spoon, they have, for lack of a better term, a "groove." I love to listen to them when I'm cooking or cleaning. That is a very high complement I usually listen to Motown or James Brown when I get domestic. Check out these tracks, "Don't you Evah?" & "The Underdog."
Number 4: Modest Mouse, We Were Dead Before the Ship Sank
This was the album of the summer in our house. Beginning to end, it delivers. You get a nautical feel from every song, as if you can smell the salty air of the ocean. Best lyric, "Someday you will die and somethings gonna steal your carbon..." Check out these tracks, "Dashboard" & "Parting With the Sensory."
Number 3: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Rising Sand
Wow, this one just sneaked in under the wire. I started listening to it at the end of December and haven't stopped. What seems like an unlikely pair, is a match made in musical heaven. What producer got the idea to put these two together is a genius. I like the songs they chose, they give a Plant and Krauss flavor at the same time. (Appalachian, Zeppelin, Blues) I thought he might be a little diva on this album and all you would hear was her humming in the background but it truly is a even collaboration. Check out these tracks, "Gone, Gone, Gone" & "Fortune Teller"
Number 2: Tegan and Sara, The Con
I just can't say enough about Tegan and Sara, so I won't belabor my point. I will only say that each album they put out is better than the next. They are brilliant musicians and lyricists (and very funny too). This is one of my Top Ten favorite albums of all time!
Check out these tracks, "Nineteen" & "The Con."
Number 1: New Pornographers, Challengers
I am the last person on earth to discover The New Pornographers, i know but better late than never is what i say. It seemed like most fans were disappointed by this record but i didn't have anything to compare it to so to me it was a fresh and exciting collecting of songs. This truly is a super group. Check out these tracks, "Myriad Harbor" and "Challengers."

Number 3: Radiohead, In Rainbows Sorry Mr. Yorke, I try to get it, I really do but I just can't go there. Don't worry I still listen to OK Computer everyday.
Number 2: Say Anything, In Defense of Genre After there explosive first album, ...is a Real Boy Max and the boys undelivered but i have not written them off yet.
Number 1: Amy Winehouse, Back to Black Talk about hype, I like two songs on the record but after awhile her voice grates on you.
